(no subject)

Arrived in Havant this afternoon with a fair amount of time to kill before seeing my counsellor, so moseyed into The Perseverance pub. They had Caffreys on promo at £1.50 a pint. First time I'd tried it - lovely stuff. Decided to have a pound's worth on the juke box. When one of my selections, Goodbye To Love by The Carpenters, came on, one of the lady staff, who was playing pool with a male colleague, was crossing the bar just in front of my table. "Who put this on?" she asked.

I fessed up.

"Cool song," quoth she, arriving back at the pool table. The bloke, and the barmaid on duty, gave her some stick - "It's the Carpenters!" said the barmaid - but the lady stood her ground. "I love the Carpenters."

Later I put on I'd Do Anything For Love by Meat Loaf, which got similar approval from her and similar disapproval from the man. As I passed by the pool table softly singing along she said "See, he likes it." Then, turning to me : "Cool song, isn't it?"

I just might have to make this place my matchday boozer.

Just spent the evening helping take down the Christmas decorations.

And now I must go and watch my DVD of Blue Murder at St Trinian's - the last of the treats bought with my Christmas money - then catch an early night before the trip to Swansea.

At my local tavern they have one of those internet jukeboxes, and I play a lot of random stuff (Rita Coolidge, New Pornographers, 5th Dimension, and so on) to get away from all the crappy "buttrock" that the other people play, and the only one who generally enjoys what I play is my friend Fletcher, ond occasionally my friend Tim. Everyone else is tortured, and I couldn't be happier!

Caffreys is nice stuff to drink, but blimey the hangover you get from it. I'll never touch the stuff again.

And I Would Do Anything...? No wonder you got stick mate :-P

Aww I must confess I need to know a little more about you, I mean I added you knowing you were from Hampshire but I know nothing else *embarrassed*

The Carpenters are good for melancholy moments of beauty!

Me? Well I'm female (funnily enough) 28 and live the western side of Southampton Water, Hythe area. Though I spend quite a lot of my time in Somerset with my bf nowadays. I'm a part time classroom assistant for little primary school kids of 5 - 7 years in Somerset.
My taste in music is a bit ecclectic, but not mainstream like todays manufactured erm music (trying to be polite). A rock chick at heart.

Me, I'm 36, single, from Gosport, and I work part time doing telephone surveys. I too have very diverse tastes in music, although my most favourite genre is female-vocal guitar pop-rock - think The Primitives, Voice of the Beehive, Transvision Vamp, Kirsty MacColl. My favourite band of all is Helen Love - their new album is the perfect antidote to today's pappy pop! I'm also a serious football fan and real ale drinker.
