(no subject)

First thing this morning my inbox contained a bombshell from Hayley. Her wedding's been postponed to April 2008. Something about a problem with vendors. She wrote "Any problems with the airline let me know and I will talk to them," but the fact is there's nothing she can do. When I booked my flights for this July, the T&Cs clearly stated that there would be no refund in the event of a cancellation. £568 gone up in smoke.

I can't afford to shell out again to go over there next year, and anyway next April I'll be on holiday in Åland the first half of the month and approaching the finals of my ECDL course the second. I told Hayley in my e-mailed reply that I'll catch up with her when she's next in England.

On arrival at work, cancelled my leave request for the Wednesday and Thursday I would have been away (left the Friday as holiday, as I may go to the Manchester ladies' footie tournament that weekend now). A fairly routine shift, didn't get anyone really awful, and no-one, as far as I noticed, mentioned the subject of Valentines. A sheet was passed round to say we've all got to do some home baking for Comic Relief on the 28th; we all had to sign the sheet to say whether our cooking skills were 'beginner', 'medium' or 'Cordon Bleu'. I put down as a beginner. Vanessa asked what I was going to make; I said I didn't know yet.

Doctor this evening. He said my throat was clear, then listened to my chest from the back and prescribed a week-long course of antibiotics. At least now it's being sorted.

Dude, that sucks! Can you not just go any way and have a two-day holiday on your own?

IAWTC. If you've paid, you may as well go for the trip.

Sorry, but without all the wedding party coming over, I wouldn't get the special discount deal on the hotel room. (I haven't paid for the hotel yet.) Paying full rate wouldn't give me a lot of financial breathing space these next couple of months - especially as I'm moving to a bank where Mistress Overdraft is not at my disposal, so I'd have to wait till I have all the money for the hotel room in my hand, by which time room prices would be sky-high. I'd rather relax and channel my funds towards Åland 2008.

Thanks for the thoughts anyway, guys :)

I'm sorry to hear that, after you've spent such a huge amount of money on the flight. I suspect that you probably feel a lot more gutted than you're illustrating here.

I hope you have a huge burst of luck in some manner or other in the near future, because you really deserve it to make up for this.
