Day two of Pass Plus, devoted to motorway driving. It went OK, apart from a couple of times when I was a touch slow registering Peter's exhortation to move out into the centre lane to overtake and had to sit tight in the left-hand lane until another gap appeared. For the first hour Peter had to keep telling me not to put so much steering on to change lanes - "you can't swerve, just drift across" - but I nailed it in the end. The only other hiccup was after we'd come off the motorway and were heading for the A road going towards Salisbury, and I turned left going off a roundabout instead of going straight on. Peter was saying "follow the lorry, not the van" but by then I'd committed to following the van. So we had to turn round in the Premier Inn car park.

Motorway driving will definitely teach you a lot about driving smoothly, and being prepared. To be honest though, the thing that'll teach you most about driving is driving on your own on long journeys, rather than short journeys with an instucting passenger.

True, and I'll be looking to do longer distances in the near future, though I'm resisting the temptation to drive to Yeovil this Sunday...
