Just a few minutes into this morning's driving lesson, on the approach to Brockhurst roundabout I found myself up on the kerb. Initially Peter thought it was down to my making a gear change at a time when he'd thought I was veering too close to it already, but when, coming up to a later roundabout, he noticed me spending too much time watching the traffic coming from the right, he concluded that that had been where I'd gone wrong at the beginning - looking right the whole time sent me steering that way.
My first attempt at a reverse round the corner had to be abandoned because I was coming round too far to the right and so blocking a car that was trying to turn in from the other side. Peter had me go straight back round for another try, advising me to put the steering on a little bit at a time on the way round as needed instead of doing one big turn at the start of the bend; that one went OK.
Pulled off a perfect bay park, then we had a run through of the devices under the bonnet and the questions about stuff like testing the lights and how to tell when the brakes need replacing. No problems the rest of the time, just at the end Peter reminding me to plan ahead more, spot and react to situations earlier and not let my concentration lapse.
