One of the Sarahs brought in a box of Co-op Christmas After-Dinner Mints (like After Eights but with the chocolate a bit thicker) for nibbles this morning. I managed to get two early in the shift, but by 11.30 they'd all been pigged.
At 2.24 I got a non-working man in his 80s. No problem, I thought, as they're usually done in a few minutes. For this one, though, the interviewer from last time had left a note : "Hard of hearing, difficult to interview." I soon found out what she meant. The bloke had a serious problem understanding the slightest thing I said, and I had to repeat almost every question - in a couple of cases, three or four times. When 2.30 came with me still trying to explain to him that we'd be calling again in April, I really thought I was going to miss the bus, but he finally seemed to get the message. After shutting down my workstation, dumping my waste and putting my headset back in the cupboard I sprinted all the way down the stairs and out to the bus stop and made it with a minute to spare - though in the end the bus was a few minutes late anyway.
Got home to learn from the Hawks web site that tonight's match is off because overnight rain waterlogged the pitch. It's sure to be played on a Monday now :(
Considered walking up to the Co-op this evening for a real ale, but even though I'm saving over a tenner with the football being cancelled, I decided the couple of quid it would cost was better saved than spent, and in truth I can't be fagged with the effort.
